Chicago Commuter Rail gets 3M Federal grant to ease congestion

A $3 million federal grant has been put in place to help ease the congestion that slows down Metro commuter trains arriving from southwest and south into Chicago s Union Station.

Dan Lipinski and Mike Quigley, U.S.Reps along with Dick Durbin, U.S.Sen. announced the grant on Friday.

The grant will help the Illinois Department of Transportation in developing a plan for the improvement of efficiency of these commuter rail lines.

A news release from the office of Lipinski said that the work will reduce congestion while boosting economic growth and improving the quality of life for the residents.
