Petta RajniKanth

The news will be a huge relief for both the Tamil film industry and audience. The ticket rate for watching movies in the theatres is going to get cheaper.

Last week in December 2018, the Central Government slashed the Goods and service tax(GST) on tickets. The new GST comes down to 12% from 18% for the ticket price up to Rupees 100 and 18% from 28% for tickets exceeding rupees 100. The online booking charges remain the same.

The whole entertainment industry of India welcomed the quick decision made up by the Government. There will be a chance in the growth of the number of screens and reduce the views on piracy sites like Tamilrockers, Tamilgun which are the major threat for the industry.

The implementation will take time at least a month time and we can expect the rate to be implemented on the cinema halls, theatre and multiplex before this January end.
