Shark Thriller The Meg 2 under Early Stage of Discussion, Confirms the Executive Producer

Jason Statham�s recent blockbuster shark film The Meg is getting a sequel and under initial talks to start the film. The Chinese-American co-production venture released in summer this year and went on to become a huge hit at the box office despite getting poor reviews from the critics. Shark lovers seem to have rushed for the film and said to be a popcorn entertainer, the film garnered success in all released markets around the world.

Now the confirmed reports are that a sequel is to be made for the film soon after initial talk wraps out and the official confirmation is awaited. Catherine Xujun Ying who is the executive producer of the film and CEO of Gravity Pictures revealed this news in the U.S.-China Entertainment Summit. During the interaction with the press, it was said that the early talks are going on and it is too early to reveal some secrets that they are keeping, as said by the CEO. 

The Meg currently holds the most collected record for a Chinese Studio film along with Hollywood, beating the previous record of Kung Fu Panda 3 collecting around $530 million worldwide. The film grossed about $143 million at the North America Box Office, while in China the movie made a bit higher by collecting $153 million in its final run. After the successful first film, the makers are keen to create a sequel and hold the successful franchise.
