Famous sporting goods maker Nike cuts down their deal with the English legendary football club Manchester United as the 2014-15 season will be the last year after they ended their 13 year deal to manufacture the club s football kit.
According to the company statement, the terms that were on offer for a renewed contract did not represent good value for Nike’s shareholders.
However it was learnt that another renowned sportswear company who was earlier manufacturing kits for Germany, Adidas or Warrior is going to replace Nike.
The poor run by the club in the recent season where Manchester United did not qualify for the Champions League after 19 years was a big blow for the club and its business.
The poor run along with their legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson who left his manager s post after 26 years of superb period with the club where Manchester finished the last season quite miserably.
David Moyes who was the successor of Furgeson was not able to sustain ten months as the Dutch manager Louis van Gaal taking over the job after his assignment with the Netherland s side finished.
The American sportswear company Nike has signed their deal with the club first on 2002 where the club informed that this will be their last season with Manchester United.
According to the club statement, Manchester United is a great club with passionate fans. Any partnership with a club or federation has to be mutually beneficial and the terms that were on offer for a renewed contract did not represent good value for Nike’s shareholders. We look forward to a successful final season with the club.
The current deal with Manchester United is 24m a year and they had the agreement of retaining the right to meet any other offers for the club however Nike is not willing to stay with the club anymore.
