To the NEWS from the Sports World the British Andy Murray was knocked out of the Dubai Championships on Thursday, losing to 18-year-old Borna Coric 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Coric, 18, is one of the game's rising stars. He was named ATP Star of Tomorrow last November, and although he is currently ranked 84 in the world, he is being widely tipped as a future top 10 player.Coric is the first teenager to reach the last four in Dubai since Nadal clinched the title in 2006 as a baby-faced 19-year-old.
In the heart biting game, Coric played without nerves during the quarter-final clash against Murray, who leapfrogged Rafael Nadal to No. 3 in the world earlier in the week, which allowed him to hit the ball cleanly and put the Brit under pressure from the off.
This is noticeable that Murray played Coric in Davis Cup two years ago but the teenager has excelled since then and at 84 in the world is the youngest player in the top 100.
On the other hand Murray, who reached the Australian Open final at the beginning of the month, had 55 unforced errors and only 15 winners against the Croatian teen. Many of his shots were landing in the net or sailing beyond the lines.
Murray said in a statement I would definitely say I was a little bit sluggish at the beginning of the match, but in the second set I definitely started to move a bit better and play a little bit better, . But, yeah, I started the match not good. And He's obviously one of the young guys who's going to continue to get better every week with experience.
Murray next plays Joao Sousa, the world No. 50 from Portugal.
To the report from the Expert He's going to be making improvements in his game and realising the things he needs to work on if he wants to get to the top of the game. He'll be a tough opponent. He's had some good wins already against top players.
In additional Earlier, Tomas Berdych, the third-seeded Czech who has been twice a finalist here, also started with a straight sets win, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 over Jeremy Chardy of France.
