Doctors usually advise people to eat seafood to the maximum of 2 days a week because the seafood is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and a good source of vitamins, proteins and minerals thus reducing common diseases and also life-threatening diseases like heart disease and stroke. Pregnant women are not advised to take the seafood more as mercury contamination in some kinds of seafood would affect the childbirth.

Researchers in US universities in Michigan and Texas conducted a study involving 500 couples for about a year. They were asked to note down the seafood consumption and sexual activity during one year period. As an outcome, it was found that about 92 per cent of couples who consumed seafood more than two times in a week conceived more in comparison with the couples who ate less seafood and that was only 72 per cent and this was the case for those who have more seafood avoiding shellfish and sardines.

The Study also highlights that the days which couples had sex and the days of seafood consumption gets co-related more often during the year. A Scientist further explains that it is not that eating seafood would induce sexual activity, instead, the improvements could have been observed in semen quality for men and menstrual cycle for women thus making faster embryo growth.

However, the study outcome is just based on the observations and it also has some drawbacks. for example, they have not considered the quality and quantity of seafood taken in a week.
