Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA) announces the delivery of 10,030 vehicles in first quarterMd Noman Siddique (Author) Published Date : Apr 03, 2015 14:58 ET
Typically known for announcing its sales figures after a quarter has ended, as against other automakers that announce theirs at the end of each month, Tesla Motors announced Friday that it delivered 10,030 vehicles in its first quarter.
This number of delivered vehicles marks a 55% increment over the figure delivered in the first quarter of 2014; and Tesla Motors feels it is important to make this disclosure to boost transparency and reflect a good culture of accountability.
We have decided to take this approach because inaccurate sources of information are sometimes use by others to project the number of vehicle deliveries, the company said in a release.
A Silicon Valley electric car manufacturer, Tesla further announced that This is only one measure of our financial performance and should not be relied on as an indicator of our quarterly financial results.
The official notification that it sold 10,030 vehicles in the first three months of this year reflects a global distribution that several third parties which usually estimate the number of vehicles Tesla deliver would appreciate.
For instance, Automotive News, Autodata Corp, and WardsAuto among others usually make estimates which vary greatly with one another and with what Tesla delivers, but this specific information from the electric automaker will put all assumptions to rest once and for all.
Tesla sold 9,834 vehicles in the fourth quarter, up from 7,785 in the third quarter. It expects global sales of 55,000 in 2015.
