With smartphones holding the major market share globally, usage of feature phones has reduced drastically. Nokia was once well-known for the feature phones, now the specifications of Reliance JioPhone 2 smart feature phone has been released recently with upgradation in specifications and QWERTY keypad with changes in navigation pad and the model will be available for sale from August 15 at just Rs. 2,999.
In addition to the 4G feature on the Banana like Nokia 8810, HMD Global has recently announced that it would support WhatsApp also following the Reliance Jio's announcement of incorporating WhatsApp and YouTube options in new JioPhone 2. Both of these run on KaiOS operating system that supports Google apps, have same RAM/internal memory of 512 MB / 4GB. 2 MP rear camera with LED Flash can be seen on Nokia 8110 while JioPhone 2 has 0.3 MP VGA front camera and 2 MP rear camera similar to Nokia.
Nokia 8810 is built with 2.45-inch QVGA display while JioPhone 2 has 2.4-inch QWVGA screen. 4GVoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Micro-USB, FM Radio are the common connectivity options available in both the models. A battery of 2000 mAh in JioPhone 2 is greater than Nokia 8810 having just 1500 mAh.
According to the market speculations, both the models would be stiff competitors for low-end smartphones as the feature phones support smartphone features as mentioned above.
