Venom Outperforms at Box office despite Poor Reviews: US Weekend Box office Rankings

The Domestic Box office witnessed a collapse in the Weekend predictions with a few surprises including last weekend release Venom which outperformed the projections to top the Global Box office for the second weekend too. Tom Hardy starrer Venom was projected to collect around $30 million but the figures mounted around $38 million in its second weekend despite of the poor reviews and ratings surprising everyone including critics and box office trackers.

A Star is Born as expected made $28 million at the US box office to take the second spot followed by the biographical space adventure film First man. Though the ranking was as expected, the film fell short of the expectations at the box office and collecting $16.5 million below the forecasted figure of $20 million for its first weekend. The movie collected $8.6 million at the released 22 markets making the weekend worldwide total of $25.1 million.

Sony’s Goosebumps 2 performed a bit higher than the projections, making $16.2 million at the domestic box office and as a surprise, the fifth place is taken over by the animation film Small foot which had a fantastic outing in its third weekend with $9.3 million. The film Bad Times at the El Royale underperformed making a bad impression in theatres and made a domestic total of $7.2 million for the first weekend falling out of the top five films.

The films Venom and A Star is Born topped the International box office with $70 million and $20 million at the released 54 and 65 markets respectively. First man collected $8.2 million at 22 international markets with more to release in the coming days.
